The Good Companions & The Golden Girls Annual Report 2020

The Good Companions The Good Companions is a social group for men who have retired, are partially retired or who work from home. On Monday 2nd March 2020, a group of us with wives met for lunch at the Red Lion and afterwards at 2 Suffolk Road for coffee and port. This was to celebrate the group’s 20th Anniversary, the first meeting was held on 29th February 2000. Sadly due to Coronavirus lockdown, we have not had one of our lunches since then. Hopefully when the disruption is over, we will continue to hold our monthly men’s lunches and also our other activities to which our wives join us. On 17th December we had our Annual Christmas Lunch and forty two of us sat down to an excellent meal at the Waterman’s Arms which was most efficiently organised by Brian Turk. In November our Coffee Morning raised over £1,190 for Combat Stress. We meet monthly for lunch in local restaurants – Cote ,the Red Lion, Awesome Thai etc.- for good food and chats. Members are informed of events by phone and email.
