A poetic evening at St Mary’s Barnes on Sunday 22 September at 7.30pm in aid of the Bells of St Mary’s.
Gyles Brandreth – Barnes resident, former MP, One Show reporter, Just A Minute star, and author of the best-selling word-lover’s companion, Have you eaten, Grandma? – has a passion for poetry. His new book Dancing by the Light of the Moon is both a celebration of the best-loved poems in the English language and a unique guide to the value and power of learning poetry by heart. With the secrets of how to improve your memory (whatever your age) and poetry that’s by turns funny, sad, and moving, Dancing by the Light of the Moon is an informative, fun and funny show about a book designed to lift your spirits and change your life. According to the Times, “Gyles Brandreth has a touching access to the secrets of the human heart.” According to the Scotsman, the show that goes with the book is “a total joy”.
A signed copy of Dancing by the Light of the Moon comes with every ticket (single ticket £20, double ticket £30) available from Barnes Bookshop and ticketsource.co.uk/stmarybarnes. Before the show the St Mary’s Bellringers will be demonstrating their skills from 7pm.
