Director of Music and Organist
Christopher Bucknall comes to us from St Andrew's, Park Walk, Chelsea. He has a degree in music from Oxford and a Royal Academy diploma in harpsichord and fortepiano. Chris is the artistic director of The Rare Theatricall, an ensemble devoted to historically informed and interpretationally rich performances of English seventeenth century vocal and string music. The Rare Theatricall holds a Leverhulme Junior Chamber Music Fellowship at London’s Royal Academy of Music and thus is committed to creating performances of exceptional quality. St Mary's has well established senior and junior choirs under the
direction of our Director of Music. The Senior Choir practises on Wednesdays
apart from a summer break. The Junior Choir is term-time only
Senior Choir: meets at 7.30pm. We welcome anyone interested
in joining us. Contact the Director of Music
Junior Choir: We are currently looking to swell the ranks of the Junior Choir. The Choir offers children from Years 4-6 a fantastic opportunity to sing and appreciate music. It meets every Wednesday in term-time from 6.15-7.15pm in church. We spend about half of the time playing music-related games and the other half preparing pieces to sing at Sunday services. The children then sing once a month at the 10am service on a Sunday, often with the Senior Choir, and at occasional Sunday evening services
